Discussion forum for Stakeholder Dialogue on Innovation Scaling Preparedness and Strategy in Nigeria
This is an important event for the Rethinking Food Markets Initiative. We will discuss the findings and draw lessons from the workings of 5 innovations improving the functioning of Nigeria’s food value chains (from improved seeds to cold storage and transportation, quality certification and a new mechanism mobile finance for input purchases). At the workshop we want to discuss whether and how these innovations can be brought to scale. We also want to have a dialogue about the approach taken in conducting this research together with food system operators and other stakeholders. Specifically, we want to:
• Validate the evidence on impacts
• Share this knowledge sharing to promote adoption of innovative food system solutions that we’ve found to be effective
• Identify challenges to adoption of the innovations and to their scaling
• Identify what enabling conditions and policies are needed to provide incentives for adoption and scaling
• Identify possible trade-offs that might be associated with scaling
• And, on that basis, co-design effective pathways towards scaling and get your buy-in
This is the first of the stakeholder workshops we will be conducting in the coming weeks. We will have similar engagements in Uganda, Ethiopia and Honduras. Please engage in this important and hopefully impactful dialogue.
Thanks for your post! What specific strategies can be implemented to create an enabling environment that encourages the adoption and scaling of the five innovations discussed?
